Club History

The Club was created in 1909 by the miners from the local pit in the village of Lumphinnans, and their immediate families.  It is a small, private club which is run on a non-profit making basis, where any excess is used to improve the club, playing surface and buildings for the benefit of the members. 

The club has enjoyed limited success over the years but has won competitions run by local external bowling associations including the Three Counties Trophy,  Gilmour Trophy, The Carnegie Trophy, The West Fife Bowling Association League Division 3, The William Babbs, the Husband Trophy and the Gardiner Trophy, Fife Women’s Bowling Association Triple and Rink, West Fife Champion of Champions, Dunfermline District Ladies Champion of Champions, District 8 Ladies Triple Champions (2 successive years), CISWO Mazzoni Trophy and Senior fours, Dunfermline District Ladies League, Fife Under 16 Pairs Winners

We send representatives to participate in all of the competitions run by the West Fife Bowling Association as well as Bowls Scotland.

The Ladies of the club enjoy full membership and equal voting rights.  They fully participate in competitions organised by the West Fife Ladies Bowling Association and Bowls Scotland. 

The Club also supports competitions run by the West Fife Sports Council.

 

We have had several members who have represented the local area teams;

West Fife Bowling Association - Stuart Rattray, John Thomson, Gary Fleming

Fife Women’s Bowling Association - Janet Thomson, Jean Mitchell, Annie Walker, Jean Dickson, Sandra Barbara, Jennifer Hutton

West Fife Ladies Bowling Association - Mhairi McCall, Janet Thomson, Jean Dickson

 

We have recently had one club member who was selected to represent Scotland at under 25 Level - Mhairi McCall

 

We have also had representation on the Councils of the area associations;

Gillies Thomson, John Thomson, Gary Fleming and Niall McCall have all served on the West Fife BA Council (Niall McCall is a current member)

Janet Thomson, Jean Mitchell, Fay Proudfoot and Annie Walker all served on the Fife Women’s BA Council

Jean Dickson is a current member of the West Fife Ladies Bowling Association
