Lumphinnans Bowling Club
About The Club
Come & join us
Lumphinnans Bowling Club is situated to the east of the village, on the Lochgelly side. We are one of the smaller clubs in the area, but we are a very friendly club where you can play the game of bowls as much as you like.
Our primary function within the community is to provide indoor & outdoor sports facilities as well as a social hub which members of the community to utilise.
The club was created in 1909, predominantly for the miners of the village and their families. Throughout the years, we have enjoyed a healthy membership but numbers have been on the decline for some time now, and we are at a point now where new members would be a great advantage to the club.
So what do we offer? Our green is an excellent surface which is regularly used for area finals, county matches and is always complimented. We are a small, friendly club where new members are always made to feel welcome. We have qualified coaches to help you take your first steps in the sport and to guide you through as far as you want. You can play as much or as little as you like.
What else happens in the club? We have a thriving social side in the club now, with weekly games nights happening on Friday nights through the year. We also have regular quizzes, tasting events, race nights, karaoke, music nights and many more events in the club. Outside of the club itself, we run an annual 'Rock Night' to raise funds which is always well attended.
What links do we have? We have developed a link with many groups in the village and beyond. We have regular contact with the Lumphinnans Community Council, Robert Smith Court Residents Group, YLUM in the Park, Lumphinnans Residents Association and the 4 Winds Trust. All of these groups hold meetings and events in the club and mutually support each other. We look forward to developing these links further in the months and years ahead.
Volunteering Opportunities. This is something that can be done at any time during the year. All work undertaken in the club is done by members on a voluntary basis. If you would like to help out with anything, please let a member of the committee know and we will get something sorted out for you. Some examples are painting, grass cutting, gardening, general tidying, supporting events, Warm Welcome events, Café inc and many others.
If you would like any other information, please feel free to ask any committee member
